Bike Trade In Program

We’ve been ironing out the kinks on this one for a long while. We had a soft roll out of it last year but, this year we’re set to help you get off that old bike and on a hot new whip.

How’s it work? It’s pretty simple actually. Give us a call (406-721-6525) or an email ( and talk to either Chad or Alex. They’ll schedule a time for you to bring your old ride in for an evaluation. We’ll give it a once over and let you know how much we can give you on trade. That amount can then be applied towards the purchase price of a new bike. Easy, right?

To be honest, you could probably get a bit more by selling it yourself on one of the various online platforms (Craigslist, PinkBike etc). But with us, you won’t have to deal with paying eBay/PayPal fees. You won’t have to deal with shipping. And you won’t have to deal with meeting folks you don’t know to show off your ride and HOPE that they buy it.

Once we take the bikes in on trade, we’ll do any necessary work on them (chains, cables housing, etc) get them cleaned up and ready to ride and list them for sale so they can move on to someone else.

We’re stoked to get folks on new bikes and just as stoked to be able to offer great used bikes at a price that will get more people on good bikes!

If you have any questions on the program don’t hesitate to contact us!

Alright, enough talk about how the program works, how about we post up our first used bike?

Here we’ve got a custom built 2015 Kona Big Unit that we put together for a customer over the last few seasons. The Big Unit was available as a frame only this model year, made of Scandium Aluminum.

This build sees a set of hand built Stans Flow rims laced to XT hubs front and rear. Up front a RaceFace crankset spins a RaceFace NarrowWide 32t chainring. Out back, a single Surly 22t cog puts power to the wheel.

A 120mm RockShox Pike is ready for any terrain you can throw at it while a RockShox Reverb dropper posts makes handling those steeps even easier. The cockpit has Kona Bars and Stem riding above a CaneCreek 40 headset.

It has a Maxxis High Roller front and Ardent rear tire with XT brakes bringing the whole package to a stop.

This bike is ready to rip in its current single speed form or you can throw gears on here and spin whatever combo the grade calls for.

$1500 puts this 29er hardtail beauty in your garage and then it can start putting smiles on your face.

The unsung heroes of the biking world. We don’t usually have too many previous model year commuters hanging out. But, we do have a couple Cannondales. Stop by the shop or get hold of us by your preferred method today!

2015 Cannondale Quick 5 We have 3 of these available in size large. Retail was $549.00, 25% off puts them at $411.75

2016 Cannondale Adventure 2 Mens We’ve got three of these left in stock as well, one medium and two larges. 15% off gets you on one of the best “comfort bikes” in the business.

Used Kids Bikes

Kids are expensive. We understand. AG’s are almost all high school age but they don’t get any cheaper. And Chad and Danny both have little ones and are learning the joys of buying expensive things that get outgrown in seemingly no time.

With that in mind, we do our best to help make it as affordable as possible to get kids on quality bikes without breaking their parents banks. If you purchase a new kids bike from us, we’ll give you 50% of the retail purchase price in trade towards a new bike when they outgrow the old one. But what do we do with those bikes we get back in on trade? We have our mechanics run through them, do any needed repairs and get them up for sale at a discounted rate. Our trade in program doesn’t apply towards used bikes but, it’s a great way to save some money and still get your kiddo on a quality ride.

We’ve got some good examples in the shop right now. As always, give us a call/email or swing by the shop if you’ve got questions on any that you see below.

Frostbike 2016

Three whirlwind days are in the books. It was an extremely frost free event, so we didn’t ride anything but shuttle buses and the light rail while we were here. We did see a ton of cool product, sat through some super informative seminars, amd we’re stoked to come home and put some of what we learned to use. We appreciate everyone that followed along on Instagram. Rather than blowing up your feed, we decided to just do a bit of a picture dump here on the blog.

Forgive me if I don’t caption everything, it’s been a tiring one. Enjoy the pics!

A Remolino Fatty on display in the lunch room.

Lazers new glasses are pretty sweet. Held on by magnets and helmet straps.

Much as we love bikes, this may have been my favorite two-wheeler on the show floor.

Whisky may have gotten the location for NAHBS confused…

Ti CX goodness from Foundry

The Twin Peaks theme song is still rattling around my brain. The Log Lady is pretty dang sweet though.

Beautiful Bianchi

Big fat Minions.

We are super pumped on this new CrossCheck build. This may not be final spec but it’s dang close and it’ll be amazingly well priced. Keep your eyes on Surlys website for more details soon.

Rolhoff on a Wednesday in the Revelate booth

New 27.5+ from Heller. The Shagamaw has two builds, one sub-$2K and one mid-$2K. Cool stuff coming from this new brand.

Buy a Surly, make it your own.

CX, gravel, road, Foundry is doing some cool things with loopy barred bikes.

New frame bag from Surly, the StraggleCheck. There is also the Porteur House bag that works perfectly with the 24pack rack.

Yes, we went to Mall of America.

And that’s it. We saw it all and talked to reps about most of it. So, if you see something floating around the interwebs and want more details give us a call or stop in the shop. Thanks again for following along with us!

We love working on bikes. Sometimes, we get our hands on one that is just… special.

A few weeks back, a customer brought in just such a bike. Braxton #336. Original paint and an Italian group set to die for, Andy just put the finishing touches on this piece of Missoula history.

Words don’t do it justice so, here’s some photos.

Andy relaced these hoops, original built by Braxton, to some Phil Wood hubs.

Dig those soldered cable ends. Andy really went above and beyond with this one.

Past Model Year Bikes

We’ve got a few previous model year bikes still on the floor and they are deeply discounted. We thought we’d show you a couple of the best deals.

This 2013 Cannondale F29 Alloy 2 was normally $2199. We’ve got it marked down to just $1100. It’s a got a triple in the front so, no climb in the Missoula area will be a problem, and a Shimano XT Shadow + rear derailleur to make chain slap a distant memory when the trails around here get washboardy. Magura brakes have fantastic lever feel. And the Lefty fork keeps things light and stiff out front. This bike is a size Medium and is going to put a lot of smiles on it’s new owners face.

10869_1216992408330963_4529125450231441064_n (1)

You won’t find a better deal on a road bike. This is a 2013 Cannondale SuperSix in a 56cm. Shimano Ultegra derailleurs, brakes and shifters. FSA SL-K crankset. This thing is a rocketship. Normally, $2999, we’ve got it down to just $1800.

Somehow, we still have this trail slayer hanging around. It’s a 2014 GT Force Carbon Expert. Formula brakes, full Shimano drivetrain with SLX/XT combo, dropper post and loads of travel. This thing is ready to rip up Blue Mountain, pedal everything in the ‘Snake (it’s got a triple!), or ride the lift at Discovery. Normally, $4799 you can put it in your garage for just $3200.

We’ve got plenty of other past model year bikes discounted and you can check them out over on our Facebook page. Just click right here to head to the gallery.

Happy New Year

2015 is winding down and we just wanted to say a huge, Thank You!, for another awesome year. We have so many memories to look back on…

We helped a Mother/Daughter team get into cycling and do their first century ride, we had another amazing Helmet Party (and progress on getting those bike parks built!), a rainy shop “Gentlemans Enduro” at Blue Mountain, countless sunny days at Discovery Bike Park and dark nights on fatbikes in the Rattlesnake. An endless stream of stories of tours and epic rides from stoked customers. We even got out on some adventures that didn’t involve cycling.

We were honored once again to be recognized as one of America’s Best Bike Shops and locally we were told we’re doing things right by again getting named to the Independent’s Best of Missoula list.

We welcomed some new faces to the staff, both in the shop area and on the sales floor and the extended MBW family grew with the arrival of a child.

It was another amazing year and we can’t thank you all enough for letting us do this thing we do. All the best to you and yours in 2016, see you out on the bikes!
